Joanna.jpg

Terroir

This single - vineyard wine is only produced on the best vintages.

The vines of the "Colombis" lieu-dit, near the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, are up to 135 years old, among the oldest of the appellation.
The soils are mainly composed of limestone sands and gravels.

Varietal

100% Grenache.

Winemaking and Ageing

The average yield is 15hl/ha. Depending on the vintage, the grapes are not destemmed. The juices are vinified using natural yeasts for 4 to 5 weeks in cement vats. The ageing is carried out during 18 to 24 months in multi-years old French oak demi-muids.

Why "Joanna" ?

The cuvée gets its name from the historical character Jeanne of Naples, also known as Queen Jeanne, Queen of Naples and Countess of Provence who in 1348 sold the city of Avignon to Pope Clement VI.
