Joanna 2012 - Châteauneuf-du-Pape
The Vintage
The first vintage of Domaine Duseigneur in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, 2012, is undoubtedly an excellent vintage.
A particularly favourable weather - with cold and dry winter, mild and humid spring, hot and dry summer - allowed the grapes to reach their optimal maturity under perfectly sanitary conditions.
The Joanna cuvée is rare, and only vinified in years when our century-old vines give us sufficient quantities of grapes. In 2012, only 800 bottles of this cuvée were produced.

Review
Made from 100% Grenache, the decidedly sexy, Provençal 2012 Châteauneuf - du-Pape Joanna (aged in 100% new demi-muids) has loads of kirsch, cured meats, toasted almond and spice in its sweetly fruited, sunny and textured personality. It should shine on release, and I suspect evolve relatively quickly.
